Düren's people are European minded and globally oriented!

Düren was the pioneer of the reconciliation between France and Germany after the Second World War by beginning the twinning with Valenciennes, FR in 1959. Meanwhile, Düren is proud of its five twin cities in western and eastern Europe. Besides Valenciennes, Düren's twin cities include Cormeilles in France, Altmünster in Austria, Gradacac in Bosnia-Herzigovina, and Stryj in the Ukraine. The twinning with the big Chinese city Jinhua makes Düren especially proud.

The people in Düren like to live as Germans and Europeans in worldwide connections and profit from it in different ways-economically, socially, and culturally. There is no alternative to a European, globally, oriented city: lively, open, right in the middle!
